Not only is this brightly coloured shark the fastest shark in the world, it can also jump up to 6 meters out of the water. A cousin of the Great White, Shortfin Mako's enjoy dining on tuna and squid. They are found in waters all around Australia, especially the warmer ones.

Conservation status: Vulnerable (population decreasing).

Conservation note: shark species worldwide face numerous threats and are especially vulnerable to over-fishing because they grow slowly, mature late and produce few young.
