Sacred Kingfisher Ornament

Sacred Kingfisher Ornament

Sit quietly amongst some mangroves or along a river bank and you just might catch a glimpse of one of Australia’s best fishermen, the Sacred Kingfisher. With laser-like precision, these small birds patiently wait to swoop and devour their crustacean or fish prey. Found widely throughout Australia, they’re called “sacred” as they are a holy bird for Polynesians who believe them to have control over the ocean waves.
