Christmas in July

Before we jump into Christmas in July we want to say we hope you and your loved ones are safe 💕 We’re home, squirreled away from the world painting and getting ready for life and markets post lockdown.

In the meantime though, sound the angel trumpets and drummer boy drums - it’s Christmas in July!!

It’s time to get festive even if it’s just in your own home. We love Christmas and thought we’d share some of our favorite ways to celebrate the yuletide and get merry this month:

Watch Christmas Movies

Some of favorite Christmas movies are streaming in Australia and it’s time to pop the corn, pop a cork and settle in for some good hygge feelings inside. Here are a few of our favorites:

Die Hard - (Disney +): Yippee ki yay this unexpected Christmas movie is one we look forward to watching every year for a bit of holiday thrill.

Elf - (Netflix): - What’s not to love from a movie that brings you the ‘worlds best cup of coffee?’

Home Alone - (Disney +): The days of sky travel when you could easily forget a loved one at home may be temporarily on pause, but we’ll be back to the skies soon ya filthy animal.

Nightmare Before Christmas - (Disney +): The movie that inspired me to make a stop animation set in my parent’s basement and go to art school to study armatures before switching majors to illustration still makes my heart swoon especially Zero’s cute little pumpkin nose.

A Bad Mom’s Christmas - (Netflix): Don’t judge. I love this movie. You will too.

Love Actually - (Stan): All those British accents will have you shouting bring us some figgy pudding. Now if only the Christmas lobster was a real thing…

Batman Returns - (Netflix): Not that we need anymore excitement this year, but imagine just a few days before Christmas a penguin man and cat woman start causing trouble…

Make Some Cookies!

Make any kind of cookie you like. We love making gingerbread cookies and decorating them. If you don’t have cookie cutters, you can always cut some basic shapes out with a knife.

Here’s a simple recipe from Taste: recipe

Decorate Your Plants

Deck those halls and trim those trees or in this case, ahem, your plants! Have an ornament of ours on hand? Hang it from any plant in your house to spice things up. And you have any small trees or larger plants that can handle it, add a few more ornaments.

And while you’re at it, unbox those fairy lights in the closet and make any room in your home more festive and cozy.

Now all you need to do is turn the lights out, keep the fairy lights on, watch a Christmas movie and snack away on some cookies.

Happy Christmas in July folks!

Cheers,
Stephanie + Amy
